The oldest housing stock we work in — and we work in it constantly

Dundas has some of the oldest houses in the region, and the wiring shows it. Century brick homes off King, Cross and Hatt still carry knob-and-tube in the walls and ceilings. Services are frequently 60-amp. Grounding is inconsistent. Additions and conversions have been wired by four different hands across sixty years, and none of them left a drawing.

That is the bulk of our Dundas work: rewiring done in stages, service upgrades, correcting what previous work left behind, and producing the ESA certificate that insurers and buyers ask for. Around University Gardens and the streets near McMaster there is a second stream — rental and student housing, where landlords need smoke and CO detectors done correctly, panels that are legal, and documentation they can produce when asked.

Up on Sydenham Hill and out along Governor’s Road and toward Greensville, the properties get larger and the outages get longer, so generators and 200-amp upgrades come into it. FAQ

Common Questions

My breaker keeps tripping. Can I just keep resetting it?

A breaker trips because something on that circuit is drawing more current than it should, or because there is a fault. Resetting it repeatedly does not address the cause and is not safe as a long-term habit — have the circuit looked at.

How long does troubleshooting take?

It depends entirely on the fault. Some are found in minutes; an intermittent problem that only appears in certain conditions takes longer. We will tell you what we are seeing as we go.

Is troubleshooting available outside business hours?

Yes. Our professional team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.

Can you work on wiring installed by someone else?

Yes. A large share of our repair work involves correcting or completing wiring done previously by others.
