Emergency Lighting & Exit Sign Installation

Exterior & Landscape

commercial electrical services

Fail the fire inspection and you're on a clock.

An emergency lighting deficiency is one of the fastest ways to end up with an order from your fire inspector — and one of the cheapest to fix before they arrive. Dead battery packs, exit signs that never got replaced, and stairwells with no coverage at all are what we find most often in buildings that have changed hands or been reconfigured.
We install, replace and test emergency lighting units, remote heads, exit signage and the circuits that feed them — in offices, retail, restaurants, multi-unit residential, warehouses and institutional buildings. If an inspection has already flagged something, send us the order and we’ll price the correction directly against it.
Every job is ESA-licensed and documented, with Red Seal certified crews. We’ve been doing this work in the region since 1946, and we leave you with the paperwork your inspector and insurer expect to see.

What we cover

Egress lighting, from sign to circuit.

Installation, replacement, testing and deficiency correction — handled by one contractor.

Signage

Exit Sign Installation & Replacement

Running-man pictogram signs installed and wired on the correct circuit — including replacements for old, failed or non-compliant signage.

Battery units

Emergency Lighting Battery Packs

Supply and installation of battery-pack units and replacement batteries, sized so the building holds illumination for its required duration.

Coverage

Remote Heads & Egress Coverage

Additional heads through corridors, stairwells, exit discharge and back-of-house areas where reconfiguration has left dark gaps.

Testing

Monthly & Annual Testing

Scheduled function checks and annual full-duration testing, logged and left on site so your records are current when the inspector asks.

Orders

Deficiency Correction

Work priced straight off a fire inspector’s order or a building condition report, corrected and documented for sign-off.

Backup

Generator-Backed Egress Lighting

Where a standby generator carries the life-safety load, we install, transfer and test the lighting circuits it feeds.
Testing & documentation

Why facility managers call us

Inspection-ready, not just installed.

Anyone can hang a fixture. The part that matters is whether the records hold up when someone asks for them.

/ 01

We work to the order, not around it

If you’ve been issued a deficiency, we price line by line against it so nothing gets missed and nothing gets padded.

/ 02

Documented and ESA-licensed

Notifications, inspection certificates and test logs handed over — the paperwork your insurer and fire inspector expect.

/ 03

Scheduled around occupancy

Evening and weekend work so corridors, retail floors and stairwells aren’t blocked during business hours.

/ 04

Testing that keeps running

Add the building to a scheduled testing programme and the annual full-duration test stops being something you have to remember.

How we work

From walk-through to sign-off.

Clear scope, clear pricing, records left behind.
01

Building Walk-Through

We walk every egress route, check existing units and heads, and note where coverage is missing or equipment has failed.
02

Itemized Quote

A written estimate broken down by area and unit, with any inspector-flagged items called out separately.
03

Installation & Test

Units mounted, wired and commissioned, then function-tested and run for full duration to confirm they hold.
04

Records & Handover

Test results logged, ESA documentation provided, and a testing schedule set up if you want it maintained.

FAQ

Common Questions

My breaker keeps tripping. Can I just keep resetting it?

A breaker trips because something on that circuit is drawing more current than it should, or because there is a fault. Resetting it repeatedly does not address the cause and is not safe as a long-term habit — have the circuit looked at.

It depends entirely on the fault. Some are found in minutes; an intermittent problem that only appears in certain conditions takes longer. We will tell you what we are seeing as we go.
