Grimsby

Serving Grimsby Since 1946

Service area

From the Beach cottages to the escarpment and the farms behind it

Grimsby is the eastern end of our regular service area, and we are there most weeks. Down at Grimsby Beach the housing is heritage — the painted Victorian cottages and the streets around them, most with original or near-original wiring, ungrounded circuits and services that were never intended to run a modern house. Downtown around Main Street it is a similar story, with commercial units above and behind the storefronts adding their own layer of undocumented work.
Grimsby-on-the-Lake and the newer builds bring the opposite: modern houses, minimum-sized panels, and owners now adding EV chargers, hot tubs and finished basements. Up on the escarpment along Ridge Road and Mountain Road, and out through the fruit belt and the wineries along Regional Road 81, the work turns rural — long overhead feeds, extended outages, standby generators, barn and outbuilding feeders, and three-phase for cold storage, greenhouses and processing.

Everything is done to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, with the ESA notification filed and the inspection booked by us. Emergency? Call 905-634-5577, 24 hours a day.

FAQ

Common Questions

My breaker keeps tripping. Can I just keep resetting it?

A breaker trips because something on that circuit is drawing more current than it should, or because there is a fault. Resetting it repeatedly does not address the cause and is not safe as a long-term habit — have the circuit looked at.

It depends entirely on the fault. Some are found in minutes; an intermittent problem that only appears in certain conditions takes longer. We will tell you what we are seeing as we go.
